Repairs – Additional Terms (Outdoor Repairs Only)

(Applies in addition to the main Terms & Conditions of Service – https://www.task-busters.co.uk/terms1)

Borders Task Busters Ltd

1. Scope of Repair Works

Repair services provided by Borders Task Busters Ltd are limited to minor, practical outdoor repairs, including temporary and emergency make-safe works, as agreed at the time of quotation or instruction.

Repairs may include work such as:

  • Gates, hinges, latches, posts

  • Fence panels or sections

  • Shed doors, frames, fixings

  • Minor external timber or hardware repairs

  • Temporary securing or stabilising of damaged items

Repairs do not include structural works, internal repairs, ground engineering, or full replacements unless explicitly agreed in writing.

2. Nature of Repair & Emergency Works

Repairs are carried out on a best-endeavours basis, using reasonable care and skill to restore function, safety, or usability.

Some repairs are temporary or emergency measures only, intended to:

  • Make an area safe

  • Prevent further damage

  • Secure or stabilise a structure

  • Allow time for a permanent solution to be planned

Temporary or emergency repairs are not permanent solutions and should not be relied upon as such.

3. Existing Condition & Underlying Issues

Items requiring repair are often already affected by:

  • Age

  • Weather exposure

  • Rot, corrosion, or movement

  • Previous poor installation or repairs

Borders Task Busters Ltd is not responsible for:

  • Hidden defects revealed during repair

  • Failure of surrounding materials

  • Further deterioration after repair

If underlying issues are identified, we may advise further work or replacement.

4. Repair vs Replacement

Where an item is significantly degraded, a repair may only offer limited improvement.

If the client chooses to proceed with a repair instead of replacement:

  • The client accepts the limitations of repair work

  • No guarantee is given regarding lifespan or durability

Advice to replace does not constitute an obligation unless agreed.

5. Temporary & Emergency Repairs

For emergency or make-safe works:

  • Repairs may be temporary in nature

  • Materials used may be practical rather than aesthetic

  • Follow-up works or replacement may be required

Borders Task Busters Ltd accepts no liability for failure of temporary repairs beyond their intended short-term purpose.

6. Materials Used in Repairs

Materials used may be new, reused, or matched as closely as practical.

Exact matching of colour, finish, or appearance is not guaranteed, particularly where existing materials are aged or weathered.

All supplied materials remain the property of Borders Task Busters Ltd until paid for in full.

7. Access & Working Conditions

Clients must provide safe and reasonable access to the repair area.

Borders Task Busters Ltd is not responsible for:

  • Damage to hidden services

  • Pre-existing weaknesses

  • Issues caused by unsafe or restricted access

Additional time or costs caused by access issues may be chargeable.

8. Completion & Acceptance

Repair work is considered complete once:

  • The agreed repair or make-safe work has been carried out

  • The item or area is functional or safe in line with the agreed scope

Cosmetic imperfections or visual mismatch do not constitute a fault unless explicitly agreed beforehand.

9. Warranty on Repairs

Repairs are covered by a limited workmanship warranty only, confirming that work has been carried out with reasonable care and skill.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Failure caused by underlying defects

  • Weather exposure or natural deterioration

  • Movement of timber, ground, or fixings

  • Temporary or emergency repairs beyond their intended purpose

  • Client misuse or lack of maintenance

  • Adjacent materials not worked on

Any concerns must be raised within 14 days of completion to allow inspection.

10. Additional Work Requests

Requests for additional repairs or work outside the agreed scope must be:

  • Quoted and agreed separately, or

  • Approved in advance to be charged as additional time/materials

Unplanned “while you’re here” requests may be declined or scheduled separately.

11. Acceptance
