Jet Washing – Additional Terms

1) Scope of Jet Washing Services

Jet washing services cover the cleaning of external hard surfaces only, such as patios, paths, driveways, steps, walls, decking, and similar outdoor areas, as agreed at the time of quotation.

Jet washing does not include repairs, sealing, resurfacing, structural works, or joint replacement unless specifically agreed in writing.

2) Jointing, Re-Sanding & Re-Grouting

Many paved surfaces rely on sand, mortar, or compound jointing, which can deteriorate over time.

Jet washing may remove loose, degraded, or already failing jointing material. This is normal and unavoidable on older or weathered surfaces.

Unless explicitly stated:

  • Re-sanding, re-grouting, or re-pointing is NOT included in jet washing services

  • Clients should not assume joint replacement is part of the cleaning process

Where jointing is visibly worn or likely to be affected, we may:

  • Recommend re-sand­ing or re-grouting

  • Offer this as an additional service, quoted and agreed separately

  • Carry it out during the same visit only with the client’s approval

Borders Task Busters Ltd is not responsible for joint loss caused by pre-existing deterioration.

3) Surface Condition & Pre-Existing Damage

External surfaces may already have underlying issues that are not visible before cleaning.

Borders Task Busters Ltd is not responsible for damage caused by or revealed during jet washing, including but not limited to:

  • Cracked, loose, or uneven slabs or paving

  • Weak, failing, or missing joints

  • Flaking coatings, sealants, or finishes

  • Aged, brittle, or poorly installed materials

Jet washing may expose existing defects. This does not constitute damage caused by our service.

4) Results & Expectations

Jet washing improves cleanliness but does not guarantee the removal of all staining.

Results vary depending on:

  • Surface type, age, and condition

  • Level of contamination

  • Shading, moisture, and drainage

  • Previous treatments or coatings

Some staining, marks, or discolouration may remain after cleaning and are considered normal.

5) Algae, Moss & Organic Re-Growth

Algae, moss, and organic growth are natural and may return over time, particularly in shaded or damp areas.

Borders Task Busters Ltd does not guarantee how long a cleaned surface will remain clear.
Re-growth does not indicate poor workmanship.

Optional treatments may be recommended but do not guarantee permanent prevention.

6) Water, Run-Off & Overspray

Jet washing uses water under pressure.

Clients are responsible for ensuring:

  • Doors, windows, vents, and sensitive areas are closed or protected

  • Any areas of concern are highlighted before work begins

Borders Task Busters Ltd is not responsible for:

  • Water ingress caused by poor seals or existing defects

  • Run-off affecting nearby surfaces, gardens, or drains

  • Minor overspray typical of external cleaning work

7) Access, Drainage & Services

Safe access and a suitable water supply must be provided.

Borders Task Busters Ltd is not responsible for:

  • Drainage limitations or blockages

  • Pre-existing flooding or pooling

  • Underground services not clearly identified

Work may be paused or rescheduled if conditions are unsafe or unsuitable.

8) Weather Dependency

Jet washing is weather dependent.

Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to:

  • Freezing temperatures

  • Heavy rain

  • Unsafe working conditions

No penalties apply where work is rescheduled for weather or safety reasons.

9) Chemicals & Treatments

Where cleaning solutions or treatments are used:

  • They are applied in accordance with manufacturer guidance

  • Results may vary depending on surface condition and environment

Borders Task Busters Ltd is not responsible for adverse reactions caused by:

  • Previous treatments

  • Client-applied chemicals

  • Incompatible or unknown surface materials

10) Client Inspection & Completion

Clients are encouraged to inspect the work on completion.

If the client is not present:

  • Work will be deemed complete once the agreed areas have been cleaned

  • Changes in appearance after drying or natural re-soiling do not constitute a fault

11) Acceptance

By proceeding with jet washing services, the client confirms acceptance of:

  • The main Terms & Conditions of Service

  • These Jet Washing – Additional Terms
